Volkswagen is set to give the fifth-gen Polo and the Vento another facelift in India. The company will launch the updated models in the country on 4 September 2019.

Vento And Polo
Currently, the VW Polo and the VW Vento are priced from INR 5.71 lakh* and INR 8.64 lakh* respectively. The second facelift will likely make them costlier.

With the second facelift, Volkswagen will introduce a number of cosmetic updates to the Polo and the Vento. For starters, spy shots have shown that the Polo now flaunts a sharper looking front bumper, similar to that of the GTI variant, and new honeycomb grille which sits at the place of earlier used twin chrome slat grille. It also gets tweaked tail lamps which will be part LEDs. The Vento now sports similar front bumper, new honeycomb mesh pattern grille, a cutout for the VW logo at the bonnet and the Vento Cup Edition's alloy wheels and a faux diffuser.

The new cars will also come with a longer list of creature comforts, safety and convenience features which will keep the package relevant and at par with the competition.

The VW Polo is currently available with a 1.0L MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine, a 1.2L TSI turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5L TDI turbocharged diesel engine. The VW Vento is offered with a 1.2L TSI turbocharged petrol engine, a 1.6L MPI naturally aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5L TDI turbocharged diesel engine.

All the aforementioned engines are BS-IV compliant and reports suggest they are not going to be upgraded to BS-VI. A locally manufactured, BS-VI compliant 1.0L TSI turbocharged petrol engine in 95 PS and 115 PS versions is expected to replace them. However, whether that will happen with the second mid-cycle update or closer to March 2020 remains to be seen.

The VW Polo and VW Vento both will get a BS-VI 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine by March 2020.
