Next-gen 2020 Hyundai Xcent Nios - IAB Rendering
The next-gen Hyundai Xcent that is being tested in Europe currently and will be launched in India in 2020. A rendering generated by IAB's digital artist Shoeb Kalania shows how the 2020 Hyundai Xcent Nios, inspired by the recently unveiled Grand i10 Nios, may look like.
It was already known that Hyundai is looking forward to introduce a new name for the Xcent, and seeing the Grand i10 launched with the 'Nios' suffix, the Xcent too will most likely receive the same. The company will not axe the current-gen Xcent seeing its popularity among fleet operators, and hence both the models will co-exist and will be sold alongside each other. Maruti Suzuki already uses this strategy for its sub-4 metre sedan Dzire.
Based on the 2019 Hyundai Grand i10 Nios, the 2020 Hyundai Xcent Nios will be notably aggressive in terms of exterior design. It will feature sleeker and modern looking projector headlamps flanking a more expressive Cascading grille with a number of horizontal chrome slats. The grille will also feature boomerang-shaped LED DRLs added on to its either edges. The front bumper will get circular fog lamps in a fully blacked-out triangular housing. While on the top, its hood will feature aggressively styled creases which will add to its sporty appeal.
On the sides, it will make use of similar machine-cut dual-tone alloys as seen on the Grand i10 Nios, and its beltline will have chrome treatment. Elsewhere, it is will feature a shark-fin antenna and wraparound tail lights.
Since lifecycle makeovers tend to be extreme in the Hyundai cars, it will be safe to assume that the interior will also be fully upscaled. It will make use of a freshly designed dashboard, centre console, steering wheel, instrument panel and floor console. Also, the next-gen model should feature an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a host of other new features aimed to make the Xcent more appealing than before.
In terms of mechanicals, the 2020 Xcent will come with BS-VI 1.2L Kappa petrol and U2 1.2-litre diesel engines. The engines will be available with transmission choices of 5-speed manual unit and 5-speed automated manual unit. The latter will be introduced as a replacement for the 4-speed automatic transmission.
