The current-gen Ford EcoSport will reach the end of its life-cycle in near future and its manufacturer has already started the development of the next-gen model under the codename 'Project BX775'.
With the B-SUV competition stiffing in the market Ford is in desperate need to bring a thoroughly updated EcoSport as a replacement to the current model which has been doing duties from quite sometime now. The Brazilian media recently reported that the development of new EcoSport is underway at Ford's Camaçari plant in Brazil. For the uninitiated, the original 2003 Ford EcoSoprt also came out from the same plant.
The earlier reported Project BX563, which was related to Changan (Ford's partner in China), has been scrapped. On the other hand, Project BX775 is undergoing on very unique lines and thus, will be vastly different from the earlier concept.
The next-gen Ford EcoSport will have a longer wheelbase, more cabin space and, unlike the current-gen model, it will chuck the tailgate mounted spare wheel and thus, will flaunt more dynamic design lines at the rear. On the inside, it will have a fully-digital instrument panel like the European-spec Ford Puma.

Trashing the earlier speculations, it is now reported that the next-gen Ford Ecosport will use the Mk6 Fiesta’s B-platform, and thus, it will be a challenge for Ford to introduce all the new changes while maintaining the B2E foundation. But a lot of development still remains, and the new model is still about a couple of years away from its debut. Currently, the new model is being expected to lose its veils sometime around end-2021.
