Production Hero XF3R in the works - Report
Autocar Professional’s sources have revealed that Hero MotoCorp is working on the production version of Hero XF3R.
Hero showcased the XF3R concept at the 2016 Auto Expo in the country. The Indian manufacturer reportedly applied for the Hero XF3R production version’s patent in January last year. As per one of the website’s sources, the bike will not be launched in the domestic market before the Q1-2 (April-September 2018) of FY 2018-19. However, the bike is reportedly in its pre-production stage and is currently undergoing tests. Hero is likely to showcase the production-ready concept at the 2018 Auto Expo next month. One of the sources told the media site:
Hero MotoCorp has been working on its 300cc motorcycle project that spawns out from the XF3R concept. While a lot of changes are made to the original concept based on the feedback its engineering team had gathered, it looks refreshingly good in its pre-production state. Expect an attractive package by the company as it prepares to shake up the growing premium motorcycle segment later this year.
Another source in the know of the company’s plans said:
Hero MotoCorp has very ambitious plans for the future. While it continues to be cautious, it is now steady at the backend in order to put the missing pieces together to become a global player. However, this is not going to be an easy task. Climbing the value chain was there on their roadmap for a long time. But with the latest developments moving on track, it appears that the company has been working hard to ensure its premium offerings – 200cc and 300cc – are good products and are well received in the market. The XF3R will be model to watch out for in the near-term. Hero MotoCorp’s new direction is clear.

The production Hero XF3R will be a single cylinder 300 cc motorcycle, and will be more premium when compared to the upcoming Hero Xtreme NXT. As per the company, the “balance and form” of the XF3R concept will be reflected in its future naked models. Hence, expect top notch fit and finish in the production bike. When launched, it will rival the KTM 390 Duke; Benelli TNT 300, and the upcoming BMW G 310 R in the naked 300 cc segment.
