Renault Kaptur is based on the Duster's M0 platform.

At the first media drive of the Renault Kaptur in Russia, Dmitry Wolfson has posted a picture of the Kaptur parked alongside the Renault Duster, giving us a better look at the distinctive designs of the two models.

The Kaptur rides on the Renault Duster's M0 platform, which has been localized in many emerging markets.

The Renault Kaptur is basically the "emerging market version" of the Renault Captur. It is slightly larger than the Captur, measuring 4,333 mm long, 1,813 mm wide (excluding door mirrors), 1,613 mm in height, and has a 2,674 mm-long wheelbase. The Kaptur has a 387 litre boot space, which can be extended to 1,200 liters with the 60:40 split bench seats fully folded.

Although the exterior design is similar to the Captur, the underlying platform isn't. While the Captur is based on the Renault Clio, the Kaptur rides on the Renault Duster's M0 platform, which has been localized in many emerging markets, including India. This should give Renault India the opportunity to price it competitively when it launches here.

In Russia, the Renault Kaptur is available with two petrol engine options: 114 hp 1.6L and 143 hp 2.0L four cylinder engines. The India-spec Renault Kaptur is likely to be offered with the 1.6L petrol engine as well as the 110 PS 1.5L turbodiesel motor from the Duster.
