A spy image of the interior of the Renault RBC reveals a dashboard-mounted touchscreen infotainment unit, which is likely to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, a feature that is available in the Datsun GO+.

The spy images have revealed that the RBC features a sporty leather-wrapped flat-bottomed steering wheel with a faux silver trim, white detailing on the instrument cluster, a two-tone beige-black dashboard, and an AMT gear lever that comes from the Renault Duster parts bin.

The Renault RBC will become the brand's first MPV to feature an AMT when launched. Its front facade is expected to mimic that of the Renault Espace to some extent, with features like V-shaped front grille, sleek headlamps and C-shaped LED DRLs. Other details styling details include roof rails, five-spoke steel wheels, and horizontally positioned wraparound tail lamps.

Underpinning the Renault RBC is a bigger version of the Kwid's CMF-A platform, which is called the CMF-A+. The maxed-out architecture will offer a longer wheelbase that should help with the accommodation of the three rows of seats. Reportedly, the new model will be powered by a turbocharged version of the Kwid's 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine. The company doesn't have a low-displacement diesel engine suitable for its new MPV and developing a new oil-burner makes little sense owing to the BS6 norms being around the corner as well as the fast-dwindling popularity of entry-level diesel-powered cars. Transmission options will include 5-speed manual and Easy-R automated manual.

While the CMF-A-based Kwid has scored a worrisome 1-star safety rating from Global NCAP, the Renault RBC will likely fare better in this aspect due to a more robust structure and a more comprehensive list of safety equipment. In adherence with the upcoming more stringent safety norms, the Datsun GO+-rival will likely feature a driver's side airbag, front seat-belt reminder (SBR), ABS with EBD and BA, and rear parking sensors as standard equipment.

Prices of the low-cost MPV could start as low as INR 4.5 lakh.
