Skoda has begun its festive season play with the launch of the Rapid Onyx in India today. Prices of the new variant start at INR 9.75 lakh*. Here are live images from the showroom floor shared by IAB reader Muhammad.
The Skoda Rapid Onyx has a sportier styling with the usual cosmetic changes. It features white bulbs for the headlamps, 16-inch Clubber black alloy wheels with bolt covers, gloss black ORVMs, black side moulding and trunk lip garnish.
Inside, the only sporty element is the new flat bottom black leather-wrapped steering wheel with black stitching. Other bits, including dual-tone Ebony-Sand colour scheme, chrome trim and textile mats featuring premium black stitching, have a luxury-focus.
Projector headlamps with white bulbs and LED DRLs, scuff plates with Rapid inscription, black waste-bin, 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system and 12-volt power sockets (front and rear) are some more equipment highlights of the Skoda Rapid Onyx.

The Skoda Rapid Onyx is available with the 1.6-litre MPI petrol engine and the 1.5-litre TDI diesel engine. The naturally aspirated petrol unit is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The turbocharged diesel engine sends the drive to the wheels via a 5-speed manual transmission or the 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The fuel economy rating (ARAI) is 15.41 km/l (petrol-MT)/14.84 km/l (petrol-AT)/21.13 km/l (diesel-MT)/21.72 km/l (diesel-AT).
On the safety front, dual airbags and ABS are standard. Hill Hold Control (HHC) is included in only the petrol-AT and diesel-AT configurations, while Electronic Stability Control (ESC) is exclusive to the latter.
