Suzuki is reportedly working on a new bigger capacity model of the Burgman range. This new Suzuki Burgman 180 will be competing with the Honda PCX and the Yamaha NMax 155. The official unveiling should take place towards the fag end of 2019 or in early 2020.

The Japanese two-wheeler maker is said to be working on a new powerplant for Suzuki Burgman 180. A report in Iwanbanaran claims that the new Burgman 180’s engine displacement will hover between 175 cc to 180 cc. Possibly, this engine will be derived from Suzuki Burgman 200 retailed in Europe and the UK. In its present form, the 200 cc SOHC, liquid-cooled mill gets fuel injection. It can churn out 18 PS of power and 16.8 Nm of torque.

Suspension duties can be expected to include conventional telescopic fork up front and twin shocks in the rear. Braking duties will be administered by disc brakes at both ends with ABS adding to the safety net. Also, the body styling can be expected to take cues from the Suzuki Burgman Street retailed in India. Features like an LED headlamp and all-digital instrumentation will be standard. Also, the tall windscreen from the European Burgman will also be brought in.

The under-seat storage will be large and will possibly be similar to the 41-litre unit in the Burgman 200. Also, Suzuki may also throw in some sort of Start-Stop mechanism to save on fuel, possibly its Easy Start System.

There has been no official confirmation, but Suzuki may introduce the Suzuki Burgman 180 in India. The company is trying to get a share of the premium segment pie. It introduced a new colour scheme for the Suzuki Burgman Street 125 and launched the new Suzuki Gixxer 250 recently. Recent launches include even the MotoGP editions of the Gixxer SF and the Gixxer SF 250. A single-cylinder, quarter-litre adventure tourer is on cards for our market.
