Suzuki Burgman Street to target about 10,000 unit sales per month

IAB understands that Suzuki Motorcycle India aims to sell about 10,000 units of the Burgman Street in India per month initially. Yesterday, the company launched the Suzuki Burgman Street at INR 68,000 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The Suzuki Burgman Street is a maxi-scooter that shares its design with the flagship Burgman 650. The maxi-scooter debuted in India at the Auto Expo 2018 and is available in three paint schemes - Pearl Mirage White, Metallic Matt Fibroin Gray, and Glass Sparkle Black. Suzuki has started deliveries of the Burgman Street in India; prospective buyers can make a booking for an amount of INR 5,000.

The Suzuki Burgman Street shares its chassis and engine with the Access 125 and sits above the latter in the Indian two-wheeler market. The Burgman Street stays true to its maxi-scooter design with its comfort-enabling features aerodynamic shape. The maxi-scooter features a flexible foot position for the rider, which aids riding comfort, while the bulbous fairing looks the part. Design elements include a broader seat, high-set windscreen, wide handlebars and broader front apron with integrated storage pockets and a USB charger socket.

Features on the Suzuki Burgman Street include an all-digital instrument cluster, combination LED taillights, Suzuki Easy Start system, LED headlamps and DRLs, optional 12V Smartphone charging socket, a multi-function key slot with central seat lock, aluminium pillion footrests, and 21.5 litres under-seat storage capacity. The scooter features chrome garnish on the front apron and a sporty muffler cover as well.

Powering the Suzuki Burgman Street is the Access 125's 124.3 cc, single-cylinder, 2-valve, SOHC engine that is capable of pumping out a maximum power of 8.4 bhp at 6,500 rpm while developing 10.2 Nm of peak torque at 5,000 rpm. The engine works in tandem with a CVT transmission. The Burgman Street doesn’t have any direct rival but will compete in the 125cc scooter segment with the likes of TVS Ntorq 125, Honda Grazia, Aprilia SR 125, and the Vespa SXL/VXL 125. The maxi-scooter has a fuel tank capacity of 5.6 litres and a kerb weight of 108 kg.

The Suzuki Burgman Street's braking power comes from a front disc and a rear drum brake setup. CBS (combined braking system) is standard. The maxi-scooter features telescopic front forks and a hydraulic mono-shock at the rear. It comes with 12-inch front and 10-inch rear alloy wheels wrapped in 90-section tubeless tires. It has a ground clearance of 160 mm and a saddle height of 780 mm.
