Earlier this month, it came to light that the Tata 45X (Tata Aquilla), which is slated to lock horns with the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20, would go on sale between July-September 2019. In a recent development, the interior of the new hatchback has been partially leaked, courtesy Gaadiwaadi.

The highlight of the dashboard will be a floating-type touchscreen infotainment unit, while the steering wheel will be a sporty leather-wrapped flat-bottom unit.

The highlight of the dashboard will be a floating-type touchscreen infotainment unit that is likely to offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. While the cabin of the test mule seems to bear an all-black colour theme with piano black and silver accents, the top-end XZ trim could feature a two-tone colour theme. The instrument binnacle will offer an all-analogue setup instead of the semi-digital instrumentation that can be found on the Harrier.

There are physical controls for the core functions of the infotainment system, and below them, there's a sleek panel of the automatic climate control system. The car's steering wheel is a sporty flat-bottom unit. Other revelations from the latest images are that of an engine push button start/stop function, 12V socket and steering mounted controls.

The Tata 45X (Tata Aquilla) is the second recipient of the Impact 2.0 design theme, which has debuted on the Harrier. While it will have a smaller footprint than the concept that debuted at Auto Expo 2018, it will feature a similar silhouette, a sleek pair of headlamps and wrap-around taillamps, a steeply rising belt line and a raked roofline.

The Tata 45X (Tata Aquilla) rides on the Advanced Modular Platform or 'AlphaARC', which will go on to underpin the future crop of hatchbacks, crossovers and mid-size sedans from the Indian auto giant.  The new model will likely mark the debut of a new 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that will come paired with a mild-hybrid system. A dual-clutch automatic transmission, a first for Tata, is also planned for this model. The diesel engine on offer will displace 1.5-litre and come mated to a manual transmission.
