The Tata Buzzard (Tata Cassini) was unveiled in a near-production guise at the Geneva Motor Show last month. Soon after the debut, it emerged that the carmaker could be contemplating equipping the Harrier and the Buzzard with the 4WD hardware. In line with this, we present to you IAB’s exclusive rendering of an off-road-oriented NRG variant of the seven-seater.

So far, there has been no official communication from Tata Motors regarding a rugged NRG variant of the Tata Buzzard.

SRK, IAB's in-house rendering expert, has imagined the Tata Buzzard NRG sporting several minor modifications that come together to give it a more rugged look than the standard variant. Up front, there's a skid plate along with a tow hook. The SUV has prominent plastic cladding all around as well. It also enjoys a boosted ride height and features new mag wheels that have been shod with off-road-spec tires. The roof-top holds a luggage box.

The Tata Buzzard is essentially the seven-seater version of the Harrier. Its aesthetics mimic that of the H5X-based SUV until the C-pillar, after which it features a larger rear section. The new model even carries a bigger set of wheels, new roof rails and a new palette for the exterior paint choices.

Reportedly, the Tata Buzzard will get its juice from a 'Kryotec170' motor, which is, in essence, a more powerful version of the Harrier's 2.0 Kryotec oil-burner. The more potent mill is said to provide a maximum power of 170 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Transmission choices for the new SUV will include a 6-speed manual unit and a Hyundai-sourced 6-speed automatic unit.

The Tata Buzzard is 4,661 mm long, 1,894 mm wide and 1,786 mm tall. At 2,741 mm, its wheelbase is the same as that of the Harrier. However, the seven-seater is 63 mm longer and 80 mm taller than the five-seat model it's based on.
