The Tata Cassini will launch later this year, after the introduction of the Altroz. It is expected to command a starting price of INR 15 lakh (ex-showroom) and will become the new flagship in its company's lineup.

In essence, the Tata Cassini is the seven-seater version of the Harrier. In line with this, the new model mimics the company's latest 5-seater SUV till the C-pillar, after which it gets a longer overhang and a larger rear quarter glass. While the Cassini shares its wheelbase with the Harrier, overall it's significantly longer, which is owing to the larger rear section. Other than the larger bodyshell, the 7-seater SUV will have bigger wheels, new footboards, new roof rails, and new paint options.

As per various reports, the Tata Cassini will be powered by a more potent version of the Harrier's 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine that will be called the 'Kryotec170'. The updated oil-burner will offer a maximum power of 170 PS and a peak torque of 350 Nm. Transmission options for the new model will include a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic unit, while the latter will even make it to the Harrier at a later stage. The auto 'box will be a torque-converted unit that will be sourced from Hyundai.
