Last week, Tata Motors released the first teasers of the Tata Harrier, the production version of the Tata H5X Concept. After presenting a rendering of future SUV’s front-end earlier this week, IAB’s digital artist Shoeb Kalania has rendered the rear-end now.

The Tata Harrier will likely employ FCA's 140 PS 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine.

The Tata Harrier's rear-end looks rather conventional compared to the front-end, but still the most powerful one we’ve seen on a Tata Motors model to the date. The sleek tail lamps remind us of Jaguar SUVs, while the swollen tailgate design gives the impression of the SUV being voluminous and athletic.

The aptly-spaced Harrier lettering in the centre and compact license plate recess on the tailgate go perfectly with the clean and sleek character of the SUV. The production version gains conventional fog lamps on the lower corners, while its bumper and skid plate are in a toned-down design.

The Tata Harrier will ride on a modified version of Jaguar Land Rover’s D8 platform. Tata Motors will need to implement some cost-cutting measures to keep the pricing attractive. So, it will use steel for some parts instead of aluminium. The 5-seat SUV will likely employ the 140 PS version of FCA’s 2.0-litre MultiJet II diesel engine that powers the likes of Jeep Renegade and Fiat 500X internationally. A standard 6-speed manual transmission is a given, but there’s no word on an AT option yet.

The Tata Harrier will follow the latest trend for SUVs globally of having a two-tier front lighting setup.

The Tata Harrier is officially confirmed to go on sale in the first quarter of 2019 (January-March 2019). It will have a 7-seat version following within a year from the launch.
