The Tata Nano is a car that should be selling in great volumes, but it isn't. The cheapest car in the world has many strengths such as its spacious cabin, powerful aircon (on the top models), light turning radius and so on. Yet, sales of the Nano has never reached the level the company hoped for.
Business Standard reports that Tata is planning to sell the Nano through the internet pretty soon. It seems that Tata has already test marketed a few units through the online medium and the full fledged sales could start soon.
Even if the customers are not able to pay the entire amount of the car, they can pay a booking amount and choose to get their car delivered at their doorstep or to their nearest Tata dealership.
In India we have seen Skoda take to this approach wherein you can buy your car online through their website. By doing so, the company was able to offer the car with some discounts, as there was no dealer commission involved.
Tata has already unveiled the 2013 MY Nano at the HORIZONEXT. Sales of the 2013 Nano is expected to commence within the next 2 months. The top end variant is now equipped with a music system with AUX-in and Bluetooth and a twin glovebox apart from other feature additions.
