Ever fancied how a race car in 2025 would look like? Well, this specific design contest has the answer. The result expected will blow everybody's mind off but lets just wait till that happens!
Nine leading US car design studios - including BMW, General Motors and Audi - have entered a competition to design groundbreaking racing cars for 2025. The competition, organised by the Design Academy in Los Angeles, pits the motor industry's top creative talents against each other. Their brief is to "look at racing cars through new eyes using innovative technology and approaches".
Top brands like Audi, BMW, GM, Honda, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Mercedes-Benz, Toyota and Volkswagen are all taking part, and details about their creations have just been revealed. Highlights include the Mazda Kaan, an electric racing car that can reach 250mph.
Mercedes has come up with the Formula Zero Racer, which blends F1 technology with bobsleigh aerodynamics and the grace of luxury yacht racing.
Toyota has designed a Le Mans Racer that would never need to stop during an endurance race because it's powered by hydrogen fuel cell electric motors and uses photovoltaic panels to supply extra electricity when needed.
Meanwhile, Volkswagen's concept - the Runner Bio Runner - is a motorcycle-like vehicle that has synthetic muscle-based suspension to offer unparalleled traction.
