Will be positioned above the Etios.
The Toyota Vios is being showcased at the 2015 Thailand Motor Expo in its TRD Sportivo guise. The car is reported to launch in India next year. The sedan has already been spied testing in the sub-continent, near the city of Bangalore where the company has its production facility.
The Vios sedan will be a INR 10 lakh offering in the C-segment in India, and will rival the likes of the Honda City, Maruti Ciaz and the Hyundai Verna. It will be powered by the familiar 1.5-litre petrol and the 1.4-litre diesel engines. In Thailand, the petrol version is tuned to produce 109 PS (107.5 bhp) of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 141 Nm of peak torque at 4,200 rpm, and is offered with a 4-speed automatic transmission as standard.
While the Vios is the company's entry-level sedan in Thailand, it will be positioned above the Toyota Etios in India. It will target families in the personal-car sector while the Etios would continue to cater largely to the commercial segment. The Vios is a considerably larger car than the Etios, measuring 4,410 mm in length, 1,700 mm in width, and 1,475 mm in height.
