TVS will launch the TVS Star City+ on Monday, May 5. The motorcycle had its premiere in February this year at the Auto Expo, and the price announcement will be made two days from now.
Using the same platform as that of the TVS Phoenix 125, the Star City+ gets its power from a 110 cc engine, the same motor employed by the Wego and Jupiter scooters. However, engineers have tuned this engine for better power and torque, and the Star City+ outputs 8.3 hp at 7,000 rpm and 8.7 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm (on the Wego this engine produces 8 hp and on the Jupiter 7.88 hp). A 4-speed gearbox is connected to this engine.
The regular Star City, which also uses the same engine, produces 8.18 hp and 8.1 Nm of torque while achieving a manufacturer claimed fuel efficiency of 83.9 km/l.
Feature wise, the Star City+ gets a semi-digital instrument cluster, a stainless steel muffler guard, chrome finished handlebars, colored shock absorbers, electric start, alloy wheels, power/economy mode, service indicator and a dual tone seat.
Apart from the Star City+, TVS will also launch the more powerful Scooty Zest by the end of this year.
