Suzuki has launched Suzuki Vitara S in the UK. The Vitara S is the first application of the company's BOOSTERJET technology and will be available in showrooms from January 2016.
On the outside, the Vitara S gets distinctive design elements such as a unique grille design, black side body mouldings, 17-inch gloss black alloy wheels, satin silver door mirrors, rear upper spoiler and LED Headlamps with red projector covers.
The interior is embellished with sporty red accents on the air conditioning vents and instrument cluster. The sporty theme is carried forward by the aluminium alloy pedals and red interior stitching decorating the seats, steering wheel and gear lever boot. Equipment coming as standard are automatic air conditioning, cruise control with speed limiter, DAB Radio with USB and Bluetooth connectivity, seven airbags and front/rear electric windows.
The highlight of the Vitara S is the 1.4-litre Boosterjet turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that churns out 140 hp and 220 Nm of torque from 1,500 rpm to 4,000 rpm. 6-speed manual transmission is standard, but 6-speed automatic transmission will be available optionally. Irrespective of the transmission option chosen, the Vitara S can reach 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 10.2 seconds and hit a limited top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h). The combined fuel economy figure is marked 52.3 mpg (18.51 km/l) and CO2 emissions are pegged at 127 g/km for the manual transmission model.
The Vitara S puts down all the power to the road through all four wheels with the help of Suzuki’s ALLGRIP system. The system first debuted in the S-Cross and offers four driver-selectable modes – which are Auto, Sport, Snow and Lock. In the Vitara, this system has been enhanced with the addition of a feed forward function which prevents wheel slippage by sending torque to the rear wheels. This is in contrast to conventional systems that send torque after detecting wheel slippage.
The Suzuki Vitara S can be chosen in four colours: Bright Red, Cool White Pearl metallic, Galactic Grey metallic and Cosmic Black metallic. The Vitara S is priced at £20,899 (INR 21,09,915) for the manual transmission model and £22,249 (INR 22,46,208) for the automatic transmission model.
