Volvo Auto India today launched the Volvo V40 hatchback in two variants - Kinetic and R-Design - at the below mentioned prices.
- Volvo V40 Kinetic - INR 24.75 lakhs
- Volvo V40 R-Design - INR 27.7 lakhs

The V40 Cross Country, which was launched in India in June 2013, is based on the V40, but gets styling tweaks like front and rear skid guards, body cladding, roof rails and an increased ground clearance. However, the V40 shares its 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine with the Cross Country. This D3 unit is capable of 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque, and transfers power to the front wheels through a 6-speed automatic transmission. For now, a petrol variant is offered only on the V40 Cross Country.
Both variants of the V40 are equipped with the Adaptive Digital Display Console, auto bending headlights, climate control, powered front seats, leather seats and LED daytime running lights. The V40 gets a segment first pedestrian airbag feature as well, taking the tally of airbags to 8.
Compared to the Kinetic, the R-Design adds sporting differences such as different alloy wheels, a panoramic roof, a blackened grille and an exclusive color.
The V40 will serve as Volvo Auto India's entry-level model, and will rival the likes of the Mercedes A Class and BMW 1 Series.
