Volkswagen has released the first teaser image of the new compact hatch Up! that arrives in Brazil this year.
VW Up! will succeed the Gol G4 and should be launched between February and March. The company has created the website novidades.vw.com.br specifically for the campaign, where curious visitors can sign up for first hand news.
While the teaser image doesn’t divulge many details, the Brazilian version is expected to sport a steel tailgate in place of the glass door and an extended C-Pillar when compared to the European model.
The interiors could ditch the body colour dashboard seen on the Euro-spec car and instead use an all grey or black theme. The flat bottom steering wheel could also be replaced with a circular unit. The rear windows would be the roll-down type in place of the butterfly-type windows seen on the Euro model.
A unique feature that we haven’t seen in any of the previous versions of the car is the turn indicators on the side rear view mirrors.
According to sources VW is expected to price the Up! between R$ 26,000 (6.8 Lakh INR) to R$ 28,000 (7.3 Lakh INR).
The Up! would be powered by a 1.0 litre three-cylinder engine compatible with flex-fuel (petrol + ethanol). A 5-speed manual transmission will be available across range while a 5-speed automatic transmission system is being speculated on the top-end model.
