The Yamaha FZ 25 competes with the TVS Apache 200 and Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.

The Yamaha FZ 25 was launched on January 24, 2017, putting an end to the seemingly endless wait enthusiasts had for a quarter litre motorcycle by the tuning forks brand. A YouTube video on PowerDrift though reveals that Yamaha might be planning a semi-faired Yamaha Fazer 250 based on the naked roadster.

The Yamaha Fazer 250 will be a faired version of the Yamaha FZ25. Pictured here is the Yamaha Fazer FI v2.0.

Speaking at the launch about the Fazer 250, Mr Roy Kurian, Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd, said

That’s like logical, right? Just wait for some time, we’ll let you know that.

The Yamaha FZ 25 can convert to a Fazer by adding a slightly bigger tank extension and larger headlamp console. Going by Yamaha’s track record, we can also expect a twin headlight setup. A wind deflector will also offer the rider protection from wind blast.

At the heart of the Yamaha FZ is a 249 cc single cylinder mill coupled to a 5-speed gearbox. The SOHC engine is capable of producing 20.9 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 20 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. Yamaha could alter the engine mapping of the Fazer 250 to suit it for the touring application.

The naked Yamaha FZ 25 tips the scales at 148 kg and the semi-faired Yamaha Fazer 250 will be slightly heavier.

India Yamaha Motor has not announced a timeline for the Yamaha Fazer 250.
