Yamaha MT-10 & Yamaha YZF-R6 at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show - Live

Yamaha has showcased its litre-class naked, the Yamaha MT-10, and the middleweight sports bike, the Yamaha YZF-R6 at the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. Here are the bikes’ live pictures from the show.

Yamaha MT-10:

The Yamaha MT-10 is the Japanese brand’s flagship offering under the Hyper Naked motorcycle range. With the catchphrase ‘Ray of Darkness’, the motorcycle sure looks the part with numerous cuts and slashes in its bodywork. The bike on display sports the ‘Race Blu’ paint scheme on the body and on the wheels. The riding position is upright, with a forward lean; and the instrument cluster is a multifunction LCD unit.

The Yamaha MT-10 derives its engine, chassis and suspension from the YZF-R1. The 998cc 4-cylinder crossplane DOHC engine sits inside the lightweight aluminium Deltabox frame. Working with a 6-speed gearbox, the mill makes 160.4 PS at 11,500 rpm and 111 Nm at 9,000 rpm. The gearbox features assist and slipper clutch and Quick Shifter System (QSS) as well. Electronic highlights include traction control and a three-level Yamaha D-mode system. The front end comes with a 43 mm upside-down cartridge type forks and the rear features a link-type monoshock. Both front and rear suspension are fully adjustable. Brakes include 320 mm dual discs at the front and single 220 mm rear disc. The Yamaha MT-10 costs 1,674,000 Yen (MSRP) in the Japanese market.

Yamaha YZF-R6:

The Yamaha YZF-R6 is a middleweight Supersport motorcycle. The R6 follows Yamaha’s next generation R-series design language. The instrument cluster features an analogue tachometer with a digital multifunction screen. The clip-on handlebars and the rear-set footpegs make for an aggressive riding position. Electronic nannies include 6-position switchable TCS; ride-by-wire; ABS and D-Mode.

The Yamaha YZF-R6 is powered by a 599cc inline-four DOHC engine. It is capable of generating 118.4 PS of power at 14,500 rpm, and 61.7 Nm of torque at 10,500 rpm. The engine pairs with a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. The gearbox comes with a Quickshifter for clutchless upshifts.

Cycle parts include fully adjustable YZF-R1 type 43mm front upside down forks; and a link-type rear monoshock. For the stopping power, the R6 comes with the R1-derived dual 320 mm front discs with radial callipers; and a single 220 mm rear disc. The motorcycle comes with a 17-litre fuel tank and weighs 490 kg, wet.
