The upcoming Yamaha MT-25/MT-03 and Yamaha XSR155 are not the only new products by the Japanese giant. A report on TMCBlog reveals that the motorcycle maker is gearing up to introduce the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer. Talks of a Tracer based on the naked MT-15 have been rife since November last year. That was right after Honda showcased the CB125X concept at EICMA 2018.

The Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will be inspired by the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer.

Unlike the street-focused Yamaha MT-15, the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will get a high-set windscreen to tackle wind blast. It will also get a high-set handlebar to allow a more comfortable ride off the beaten track. Besides that, the upside-down front fork can be spruced to tackle difficult terrain. However, do not expect the Yamaha MT-15 Tracer to be a full-blown off-roader. Instead, it will be an on-road bike with mild adventure touring capabilities.

The tank extension and radiator shrouds will carry design inspiration from bigger capacity Yamaha MT-09 Tracer. Braking duties will include discs at both ends, while dual-channel ABS will be on offer. Yamaha will launch MT-125 Tracer as well, based on the MT-125. Seeing the success of the MT-15 and R15 v3.0 in India, Yamaha may introduce the MT-15 Tracer in the country.

The Yamaha MT-15 Tracer will have the same deltabox frame and swingarm as the naked motorcycle. Part sharing will help Yamaha save on development costs. The powertrain too will be the same 155 cc liquid-cooled, SOHC mill. In its present tune, this engine produces 19.3 PS of power and 14.7 Nm of torque. Besides that, the features list will also include all-digital instrument console, Variable Valve Actuation and a slipper clutch.
