Latest model features minor equipment upgrades.

Jaguar has revealed the second facelift for the flagship XJ limo, which leaves it with minor equipment and engine upgrades. Although updates aren't substantial as we had hoped, it does make the Jaguar XJ a little bit better than the outgoing model.

Below is a pictorial comparison between the 2014 Jaguar XJ and the facelifted model, covering key aspects and changes.

2016 Jaguar XJ Exterior

The design of the facelifted model keeps the basic look untouched. Newest upgrades to the exterior are standard LED headlamps with new ‘Double J’ DRL design, larger intakes with chrome surrounds in the redesigned front bumper, updated rear bumper, new LED "J-shaped" taillight cluster and oval exhaust tips. It also gets new alloy rims designs.

Being just a facelift for the XJ, its dimensions are identical to the outgoing model. Jaguar have also added two new variants, R-Sport and Autobiography LWB, to the current line-up which has the XJ Luxury, Premium Luxury, Portfolio and the XJR.

2016 Jaguar XJ Interior

Inside, the Jaguar XJ retains the familiar design of the outgoing model. What is not familiar, however, is the new eight-inch capacitive touchscreen with InControl Touch Pro premium infotainment system as standard equipment, which is a huge step-up over the highly criticized touchscreen system of the 2014 XJ. Other new interior features include the updated 12.3-inch LCD instrument display which now showcases the navigation in full-screen.

The new XJ offers four audio systems, the range-topper being the 26-speaker, 1,300W Reference sound system developed by Meridian. The new XJ also has the feature that enables it to be a Wi-Fi hotspot, providing connection for up to eight devices.

2016 Jaguar XJ Engines

One of the biggest changes in the 2016 Jaguar XJ is the upgraded 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine which now produces 300 PS and 700 Nm (up from 275 PS and 600 Nm).

Otherwise, it retains engines from the outgoing model, which include the Ford-sourced 2.0L with 240 PS and 340 Nm, a 3.0-litre supercharged V6 developing 340 PS and 450 Nm, and a 5.0-litre V8 available in two states: 510 PS/625 Nm and 550 PS/680 Nm (XJR only). It also keeps the 8-speed ZF gearbox, which sends torque produced to the rear wheels. For some markets, Jaguar will offer an AWD system as standard.
