Malaysian-spec model about to get a significant update.
The 2016 Mitsubishi Triton's brochure has been leaked online by Paultan reader Raja Rizal. The new 2016 Mitsubishi Triton features a major mechanical change and a number of equipment changes.
To start off, the biggest change arriving with the model year update is the replacement of the 2.5-litre engine with an all-new Euro 5-compliant 2.4-litre MIVEC diesel engine. The old engine has been offered till now because the diesel quality in Malaysia wasn't good enough for the new Clean Diesel unit, but now, with Euro 5 diesel becoming widely available at fuel stations in the country, Mitsubishi is finally bringing in the 2.4-litre MIVEC engine.
The old 2.5-litre diesel engine produces 178 PS and 400 Nm of torque, while the new 2.4-litre diesel engine delivers 181 PS and 430 Nm of torque. Transmission choices are likely to be 5-speed manual and 5-speed automatic.

With the model year update, the Mitsubishi Triton VGT gets the top-end Mitsubishi Triton Adventure's bi-xenon headlights in place of its halogen reflectors. The Triton Adventure, spyshots have revealed, is about to get a new Impulse Blue paint and 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels seen on the Triton Plus Limited Edition at the 2016 Bangkok Motor Show.
The Thai-spec Triton was updated with a few more changes such as the Pajero Sport-derived steering wheel, standard tilt- and telescopic-adjustment for the steering wheel, a second 12 V socket at the rear and more, but it remains to be seen if the Malaysian-spec Triton gets these updates this year.
