As an entry into the highly competitive sub-INR 2 lakh segment, DSK Motowheels, the Indian partner of Korean superbike manufacturer Hyosung, will launch 3 models within the year, a report in ET Auto states.
The launch has been due for a while, given that DSK had earlier mentioned that the launch is scheduled for 2014. The three models in question are said to be a single-cylinder version of the GT250R, the GD250N, and a 300 cc cruiser bike.
While the GT250R has been on sale in India for a while now, the model in India is a V-twin version. Costing INR 2.76 lakh, the sportsbike is on the higher side of the price range to seriously affect the balance of the market.
The GD250N, on the other hand, was showcased at the Auto Expo 2014. The naked sportsbike gets a 249 cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces 27.6 bhp at 9,500 rpm and peak torque of 2.4 kgm at 7,000 rpm. The bike also gets disc brakes at both ends and a 6-speed gearbox. Details about the 300 cc cruiser are sparse as the company doesn't have a cruiser of that specification in other markets. One report says that the motorcycle could be the Hyosung Aquila GV300 to be launched internationally this year to replace the ageing Aquila GV250.
