GM India will unveil a sub-four-metre compact Chevrolet SUV concept at the 2014 Auto Expo in Greater Noida that begins on the 5th of February. This is the claim made by Autocar India.
The concept SUV is based on GM's global small vehicle platform, the Gamma 2, that supports the Beat and the Sonic. More interestingly, the Chevrolet Trax mini SUV also rides on the Gamma 2.
GM India's Managing Director Lowell Paddock wasn't too sure if the Trax could be positioned in the "jet stream" of the Indian SUV segment. The Trax is not a sub-4m vehicle, whereas the concept launched at the Expo will qualify for lower excise if put into production with similar proportions.
Designed to compete with the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster, the mini SUV is powered by a 77bhp 1.3-litre Fiat-developed diesel engine used on other Chevy cars, the report adds.
We previously took you through other models that will populate GM's booth at the expo which include the Camaro, Corvette and Trailblazer.
