Isuzu will launch its MU-7 SUV with an automatic transmission in India, in the next "couple of days", Indian Autos Blog comes to know.
Launched in India in December 2012, Isuzu began local assembly of the MU-7 in December 2013 at Hindustan Motors' Tiruvallur plant.
The MU-7 in India is powered by a 3.0-liter four-cylinder intercooled engine developing 163 PS at 3,600 rpm and 360 Nm of torque between 1,800-2,800 rpm. Currently, the MU-7 is offered only with a 5-speed manual, but with an automatic transmission, Isuzu is looking to further expand the reach of this ladder-frame SUV. Also, a 4x4 option is not available on the MU-7, making it a rear-wheel drive model.
Features on the MU-7 include dual AC, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob, dual front airbags, ABS, keyless entry, a 2-DIN touchscreen audio system with DVD, Bluetooth and reverse camera, leather seats and 16-inch alloy wheels.
The MU-7 is offered in BS-3 and BS-4 variants, with the latter costing between INR 21.58 lakhs to INR 23.9 lakhs, ex-Showroom, New Delhi. Expect the AT variant to cost about a lakh more. Currently, the product is offered in three colors - Black, White and Silver.
