KTM India will launch its biggest displacement product, the 790 Duke, on the 23rd of this month. Regular readers would know that select dealerships have already started accepting booking unofficially and that the motorcycle will be available in limited numbers. As reported earlier, the 790 Duke will carry an ex-showroom (Delhi) price tag of around INR 8.5 lakh.

The KTM 790 Duke has started reaching dealerships. The Indian-spec KTM 790 Duke will be differentiated with a saree guard (installed next to the pillion footrest on the left side of the motorcycle) and a front number plate (installed above the headlight), which are mandatory requirements.

The typical naked roadster styling is complemented by premium hardware, comprehensive electronics package and a power-packed motor. The 790 Duke comes standard with full-LED lighting (headlight, taillight and blinkers), a TFT instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity to manage functions like music and calls through the switchgear.

In terms of performance, the 790 Duke will be powered by the BS-IV 799 cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled LC8c engine that pumps out 105 hp of peak power at 9,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 87 Nm at 8,000 rpm. Instead of a BS-VI upgrade, a BS-VI compliant 890 cc version will be launched next year.

A ride-by-wire throttle system allows for selecting from four riding modes – Sport, Street, Rain and Track. The electronic rider aids include wheelie control, traction control (switchable), ABS (with Supermoto mode), cornering ABS and Motor Slip Regulation (MSR).

The six-speed gearbox benefits from PASC slip-assist clutch and quickshifter that works for both - up and downshifts. Shock absorption setup includes an adjustable monoshock at the back and non-adjustable, 43 mm inverted forks up front – both sourced from WP.
