A report from September 2018 revealed that Aprilia is working on two scooters for the Indian market that would accompany the brand’s sporty SR150 and SR125. One of them is the Storm 125 that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. The second is an all-new model conceived specifically for the Indian market.

In recent updates, a report from Bikewale states that the family scooter would be christened the Aprilia Comfort. Styling cues would be subtler than the Italian manufacturer’s current scooter portfolio. As the name suggests, user comfort will be a priority, and thus the upcoming scooter will come with a large seat, bigger footboard and a spacious underseat storage.
The new product would use the engine and cycle parts from the SR range and thus we could see telescopic forks at the front for plush ride quality. Other components that could be shared with the SR include switchgear, instrument cluster and grab rail. It will most definitely come with a front disc brake.
The source report suggests that the family-oriented two-wheeler will employ the 125cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor from the SR 125. Using the 125cc engine would require Aprilia to add the safety net of CBS instead of the more expensive ABS tech – thus enabling the brand to offer the product with a competitive price tag. The 124.49 cc, single cylinder motor on the Aprilia SR125 produces 9.51 bhp of maximum power at 7,250 rpm and 9.9 Nm of peak torque at 6,250 rpm. The engine could be recalibrated for a higher fuel efficiency.

With the launch of the 125cc family scooter, Aprilia would compete against the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Access 125 and the Hero Destini. The Aprilia Comfort will reportedly arrive in August 2019, just ahead of the festive season. Expect prices to hover around INR 80,000-90,000 (on-road).
