Tata hopes to sell Bolt, Aria AT in Indonesia from next year - Report
The Aria facelift (Hexa) is reported to get a GM-sourced AT.
Tata Motors' Indonesian subsidiary, PT Tata Motors Distribution Indonesia (TMDI) is studying the market for the Bolt hatchback and an automatic transmission variant of the Aria, a TMDI spokesperson told AutoBild Indonesia.
TMDI already sells products such as the Safari Storme, Vista, Aria and the Xenon RX, apart from the Super Ace and the Ace mini trucks. In the Indian market, the Vista was replaced with the Bolt, which was introduced in January this year.
Taking cues from the Zest compact sedan, the Bolt features the 1.2-liter Revotron turbocharged petrol engine, developing 90 PS and 140 Nm of torque. The 1.3-liter diesel engine develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque, and a 5-speed manual gearbox is the only transmission on offer.
Coming to the Aria, Tata plans on revamping this product with a massive facelift, which could also see a name change. The concept Hexa showcased at this year's Geneva Motor Show is expected to influence the design of the car, and certain mechanical updates are also on the anvil. According to reports, the Hexa would be given 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions, the latter being borrowed from GMPT (General Motors Powertrain), a GM-owned company.

The Hexa is expected to launch in India in the next calendar year, and an Indonesian introduction could follow months after that, given that the car is exported through the CBU route.
