UM Motorcycles India has announced that it has received over 1,000 bookings for the UM Renegade Commando and UM Renegade Sport S, within two months from the start of bookings at the Auto Expo 2016. Customer deliveries will start from June 2016, sources told Indian Autos Blog.
The Auto Expo 2016 saw the price announcement and showcase of the UM Renegade Commando, Renegade Sport S and the Renegade Classic. The Renegade Sport S is priced at INR 1.49 lakhs, the Renegade Commando costs INR 1.59 lakh and the Renegade Classic is priced at INR 1.69 lakhs (ex-Showroom, New Delhi).
All three models are powered by a 279 cc single-cylinder water-cooled engine that develops 25 bhp at 8,500 rpm and 21.8 Nm of peak torque at 7,000 rpm, paired to a six-speed transmission. The motorcycles will be produced in India by the Lohia Group in a plant in Kashipur, Uttarakhand.
Initially, UM Motorcycles India will have 25 dealerships spread across the country. The company is targeting sales of around 3,000 units/month, but in the long run, also plans on making India an export hub. Three motorcycles will be launched in India every year, Mr. Juan Villegas, Global Director for Business Development, UM International LLC, told Indian Autos Blog in an interview.
