Piaggio India has recently previewed the Vespa VX 125 scooter which is essentially a richly equipped variant of the regular LX 125.
The VX variant offers a glossy paint job with two new color options, pink and blue. Vespa discontinued the black and maroon color options citing a lack of demand. Other visual changes include optional beige seat and an improved pillion grab rail.
The braking performance of the scooter is improved thanks to the 200mm front disc brake and the new MRF Zapper tubeless tires. The rest of the package stays the same.
The 125cc 3 valve four stroke engine is capable of 10PS and 10.6 Nm of torque and is paired to a variomatic transmission. The standout feature of the iconic retro scooter is its steel monocoque which gives it outstanding rigidity. The single sided suspension of the Vespa LX 125 has been retained too.
Unlike other players in the segment who aim for high volumes Vespa positions itself as a niche player. The wasp is more of a lifestyle retro scooter and that justifies its premium pricing.
Overdrive.in reports that the Vespa VX 125 is priced at Rs. 65,596 (ex-showroom Mumbai). That is about 3,300 dearer that the regular LX variant. Deliveries are expected to begin within a month.
