Toyota has finally revealed the 2016 Toyota Sienta MPV for Japan, which has leaked numerous times ahead of its unveil this week. The MPV is already available to order, and prices start from 1,689,709 yen - 2,329,855 yen (INR 8.76 - 12.08 Lakhs).
Toyota believes that they have created an MPV that improves the "boring" appeal of the practical bodystyle with the Sienta. Apparently inspired by 'trekking shoes', the Toyota Sienta banks on style and exterior customization to attract prospective customers. It can be finished in eight different body colors and a vibrant color called Air Yellow. Furthermore, there are five optional colors for the exterior accents and bumper garnish.
The interior of the Toyota Sienta focuses on functionality and comfort. The dashboard is divided into two sections, where the upper portion houses the instrument cluster and a 4.2-inch LCD infotainment display (Standard only on G and X Hybrid), and the lower portion features the interior HVAC controls and gear selector.
Compared to the previous model, the 2016 Toyota Sienta gets a lower floor and larger door width for better entry and egress. Knee clearance for the second row of seats has also been expanded by 25 mm. The Sienta will be available in three interior layouts: 7-seater, 6-seater, and 5-seater.
The 2016 Toyota Sienta is available with a choice between standard gasoline and hybrid propulsion. The former is powered by a 1.5-liter four-cylinder Atkinson Cycle engine with VVT-iE and "Cooled EGR" that produces 109 hp at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm at 4,400 rpm through a CVT gearbox. The average fuel consumption is rated at 20.6 km/l, thanks to an on-board Start/Stop system.

The hybrid variant combines a de-tuned version of the 1.5-liter engine (delivering 74 hp) with a 61 hp electric motor. The total output of the hybrid system is 100 hp, and it is equipped with a CVT gearbox. The fuel consumption of the Toyota Sienta hybrid is rated at 27.2 km/l (JCO8 cycle).
