The mid-engined V6 supercar makes its European debut in Geneva.

Following its global debut at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show, the 2017 Ford GT is now being showcased at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, in European specification. Ford has confirmed that its production will commence in late-2016 - a long wait for excited fans - and will be made in limited volume.

Stepping towards the side, the new Ford GT looks unlike any other supercar today. From its optimum tear-drop shape to its aircraft-inspired fuselage, Ford's paid great attention to improve the aerodynamics of the new GT. It gets 20-inch wheels shod with Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup 2 tires with a special compound designed exclusively for the GT.

At the back, the GT features two round LED tailamps, dual central exhausts, an active rear spoiler and a carbon fiber diffuser. Ford also claims that the curved rear windshield improves visibility and air flow.

Ford's new chassis, which features advanced lightweight and rigid composites, will help the supercar achieve one of the best power-to-weight ratios. The chassis is comprised of a carbon fibre passenger cell, and an aluminium front and rear subframes encapsulated in structural carbon fibre body panels.

Opening the upward swinging dihedral doors reveal an interior designed with performance in mind. Similar to the Ferrari LaFerrari, the driver and passenger seats are integrated directly into the carbon fibre passenger cell, while the driver pedals and an F1-inspired steering are adjustable.

The dashboard is as simple as it gets, with a fully digital and configurable instrument cluster, central infotainment display with HVAC controls to its right, while the driver's controls are on the left of the steering wheel. To keep the dashboard smooth and clean, the HVAC vents are integrated on the doors.

The new GT will be powered by the most powerful EcoBoost engine Ford has ever made - a twin turbo 3.5-liter V6 engine. Though the choice of a V6 over a V8 has put off many GT enthusiasts, Ford has reassured that the new model will produce "more than 600 hp" - a lot more than the previous 550 hp Ford GT V8.

The EcoBoost engine will be paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, sending torque to the rear wheels. The suspension is more performance-oriented with an active racing-style torsion bar and pushrod with adjustable ride height. Stopping power is enhanced with a new set of carbon ceramic brakes all around.
